This initial technology needs assessment is part of the larger process involved in the preparation and compilation the national communication to the COP members under the UNFCCC. This assessment consisted of six related activities. The first activity is a preliminary overview of the sectors which are to be analysed. The second activity involves the identification of technology for criteria for investment. The third activity is the identification of priority sectors and key technologies, which will be based on the key criteria for the technology and the importance of the sector. The fourth activity allows the identification of barriers to applying specific technologies, and the identification of policy needs which are required to improve technology transfer. The fifth and six activities involve selecting technological options for the short and long term, and the preparation of a report for review.
