The energy efficiency and carbon dioxide (CO2) intensity of fossil-fired power generation in Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway aggregated), South Korea, United Kingdom and Ireland (aggregated) and the United States is compared, using non-weighted average efficiencies and weighted average efficiencies by countries' electricity generation, based on 2007 data. Results of the weighted average efficiencies provide a ranking of countries.
