This report stems from discussions during a 2007 event held in Geneva between public, private, and philanthropic investment communities as well as Africa-based organizations regarding financing small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The report identifies current options, barriers, and opportunities to financing SMEs in Africa. It also outlines recommendations and best practices based on case studies of successful organizations and investment funds with innovative business models.
