Good information is essential to making wise decisions in a changing climate. However, uncertainty of climate change impacts and the complexity associated with climate vulnerability, alongside other issues, make the adaptation information agenda unclear. This working paper, which served as background for a South Asian regional workshop on information use in climate adaptation decision-making, aims to identify barriers to information use for climate adaptation in the region and proposes areas for further investigation. It notes that there is no single answer as to what qualifies as good information, but there are clearly several advancements which can be made in information systems to improve adaptation decision-making in South Asia. The paper includes preliminary research, analysis, findings, recommendations and case studies from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and India.
