Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for Low-Carbon-Economy Smart-Electricity Distribution Networks

This report presents the main findings of a High-level Advisory Group brought together by the European Commission in regard to Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs). The findings focus on the development of ICTs in the European Commission to deliver more efficient management of networks, more commonly known as Smart Grid. The Working Group concludes that ICTs have a major role to play, not only in reducing losses and increasing efficiency, but also in managing and controlling the distributed power grid to ensure stability and reinforce security.
