By analyzing the data on energy intensity and factor impacts on the trend of changing energy intensity from different income country-groups, this report finds that global industrial energy efficiency has been improved in the last two decades (intensity of industrial energy did decrease by average 7% in 1990-2008 stage), intensity of industrial energy in developing countries was much higher than those in developed countries, and two factors affecting the intensity reduction trend of energy use are changes in technology and economic mechanism.
