This report discusses the status and achievements of the Solar Loan Programme in India. The programme is comprised of a credit facility to help rural South Indians purchase solar home systems and is run in partnership with two large commercial banks and eight regional rural banks. The role of banks, successful structures of loan products, vendors, and potential for replication are discussed.
