This fact sheet outlines India's initiative as it strives to achieve a low carbon economy. Some of the country's policy and flagship project towards this path includes developing a comprehensive National and State Action Plan on Climate Change, integrated low-carbon growth into its most recent Five Year Plan (2012-2017). The country also increased its clean energy investments by adopting National Solar Mission, National Clean Energy Fund and has eliminated subsidies for gasoline and reduced import duties on renewable energy equipment. Greener transportation is also encouraged by providing subsidies for hybrid and electric vehicles, though no incentives have been provided yet under the National Electric Mobility Mission. The country also promote green buildings and energy efficiency standards for energy conservation.
