According to this report by the World Bank, inclusive green growth is the pathway to sustainable development. The report argues that it is the only way to reconcile the rapid growth required to bring developing countries to the level of prosperity to which they aspire, meet the needs of the more than 1 billion people still living in poverty and fulfil the global imperative of a better environment. The report includes the following key messages: greening growth is necessary, efficient and affordable; obstacles to greening growth are political and behavioural inertia and a lack of financing instruments; green growth should focus on what needs to be done in the next five to 10 years; the way forward requires a blend of economics, political science and social psychology; there is no single green growth model.
