The objective of this study is to assess the potential impact of the short-term variability of photovoltaic generation (PV) plants by exploring the short-term variability of PV output, the spatial and temporal scales of geographic diversity of PV, and the implications for the cost of managing the short time-scale, stochastic variability in the power system.
