This paper aims to thoroughly and coherently present the way the “picture is redrawn” for electric power systems under large wind power penetration. Topics related to technical challenges are examined and relevant technical solutions required are analyzed. General conclusions are extracted about the status and future of energy systems integration, and general directions are recommended.
