This report assesses the experience of members within the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) group implementing regulations to foster the deployment of clean coal technology in order to develop best practices. It contains an analysis of three types of regulations (air, water, and coal byproducts) in conjunction with three developing technologies (high-efficiency coal combustion, carbon dioxide capture and sequestration, and environmental controls). The report discusses how new regulations could impact the adoption of these technologies as well as potential barriers to their deployment.
