This guidance note seeks to address the question: how does one go about choosing appropriate indicators for climate change adaptation (CCA) programming? The paper begins with a brief review of approaches to CCA programme design, monitoring, and evaluation (DME). Identify appropriate indicators are discussed and the paper argues that the key is to select a medley that appropriately frames progress towards adaptation and resilience. The importance of process indicators is highlighted and comment given on how to use indicators thoughtfully and well. This paper is part of a series and follows on from 'Guidance note 1: Twelve reasons why climate change adaptation M&E is challenging.'
