This paper describes the historical role of green public procurement in China since 2006 and the large potential for further increasing both the volume and the stringency of green requirements to scale up such procurement. By addressing and leveraging the major areas and huge sums of Chinese public spending, IISD models the significant environmental, social and economic benefits that China could achieve.
