In light of the fact that bioenergy production can have a number of socio-economic impacts (both positive and negative), this report from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations presents several best practices to promote the positive impacts and minimize the negative ones. The main socio-economic impacts investigated are access to land; employment, wages, and labour conditions; income generation and inclusion of smallholders; local food security; community development; energy security and local access to energy; and gender equity.
