This atlas is intended to describe the basic elements, the interlinkages of the elements and changes in the state of the Global Water System by creating a consistent set of annotated maps. The development of the atlas promotes the collection, analysis and consideration of social science data on a global basis. Some popular maps pertaining to climate change are environmental water stress indicators; water footprint per country; climate moisture index; future change in annual river discharges, flood risk distribution, etc.
