This report discusses the European Commission's (EC) stakeholder Expert Group on Future Transport Fuels advice to the EC on the development of political strategies and actions aimed at long-term substitution of fossil oil in the transport sector, while allowing for economic growth. The report reviews the future transport fuels that have the potential for: 1) full supply of the transport energy demand by 2050; 2) low carbon energy supply to transport by 2050; and 3) sustainable and secure energy supply to transport in the longer term, beyond 2050.
