Fossil-Fuel Subsidy Reform in India: Cash Transfers for Public Distribution System (PDS) Kerosene and Domestic Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG)

This report provides recommendations regarding the structure and implementation of direct cash transfers to mitigate the effects of inflationary pressures associated with eliminating fossil fuel subsidies. It makes several short-term and long-term recommendations regarding cash transfer pilot programs, cost-benefit analyses of cash transfer programs and indexing of payments to price changes.
