Since 2010 the Center for People and Forests (RECOFTC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and have brought together regional experts to reflect on the outcomes of the 15th, 16th and 17th Conference of the Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This report is the result of a consultation held in February 2013, which brought together 11 climate change and forestry experts to discuss the implications of decisions taken at the COP 18 held in Doha, Qatar, in 2012 on the forestry sector of the Asia-Pacific region. This report summarises their responses to a set of 12 key questions raised at the consultation. The questions asked focus on the role of forests in the negotiations, the progress on REDD+ at various levels and ways forward, relevance of the Green Climate Fund for the forest sector and the effects of new financing ideas on forest carbon initiatives.
