This paper argues that existing relations and common goals between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) can serve as a solid foundation to build momentum towards a fair, robust and ambitious international agreement on climate change in 2015. It explores the current EU-LAC partnership and new options for increasing cooperation and diplomacy on climate change. The paper is based desk-based research and interviews of over 20 officials and experts from the EU and LAC and finishes with some recommendations.
