This report details the strategies needed to provide universal electricity access by the end of 2030. Small, stand-alone renewable energy technologies can often meet electricity needs of rural communities less expensively than centralised grid solutions can. By 2030, 75% of rural electrification will likely come from micro-grid projects with renewable power sources.
