This report examines the factors that will drive the demand for, and supply of, natural gas in the coming decades, the conditions under which gas could play a more prominent role in the global energy mix, and the implications that a "golden age of gas" could have for energy markets and the environment. Section 1 lays out the results of a new global energy scenario. Section 2 analyzes the developments in gas supply that are shaping and will continue to shape the global picture. Section 3 discusses the competitiveness of gas when compared to other fuel sources as well as the nature and effects of government policies on natural gas.
