This VCA was carried out in the village of Duck Run 1 in September 2009 through a series of community meetings with the residents, village council and volunteers of The Belize River Valley Branch of the Belize Red Cross. It is recognized that the environment of the village is continually evolving and changing. The information held in these pages is relevant to September 2009 with some additions in May 2010. This study was conducted as part of the preparation process in the application to the European Union Humanitarian Office (ECHO) for funding for the Community Based Disaster Preparedness Program. The study clearly identified that funds were needed to better prepare this community for disaster.
