Climate Change and Water

This report introduces general aspects of climate change and water, specifically approaching the observed and projected changes in climate as they relate to water and analyzes the different impacts and responses that climate change and water resources can have on different systems and sectors. It focuses on regional aspects of climate change and water and it presents different mitigation measures that can help reduce the magnitude of impacts of global warming on water resources. The guide presents an overview on how the water resources management impacts on different policy areas, including health, energy, food security and nature conservation. Finally it emphasizes the need for further research on climate change modelling related to hydrological cycles at scales relevant to decision making and adequate tools to facilitate integrated appraisals of adaptation and mitigation across multiple water-dependent sectors.
