The natural disaster and conflict have brought changes in the physical, chemical and biological character of environment across the globe. Pakistan is one of the worst victims facing effects of climate change in spite of the factual situation that it does not account for generating as well as expanding this global problem. Pakistan lies at 12th position in the in the list of victims of deleterious impacts of climate change. Nevertheless the area like Kohistan with forests under stress and strain is experiencing impacts of climate change. One of the greatest needs of people affected by environmental disturbances, be they settled or on the move, is fire wood to heat their homes, cook their food, and treat water for drinking and food preparation. The risk entailed by women and children collecting sometimes scarce wood resources constitutes some of the most challenging and serious protection concerns in villages of the district where conflict over resources is high.
The innovative program started by the National Integrated Development Association (NIDA) relating to introducing fuel efficient stoves is intended to help achieve different set goals such as awareness and training programs, develop skill in women and blacksmiths, decrease deforestation, improve health of women and children, melioration in environment by reducing fuel consumption.
NIDA has enlisted the assistance of various NGOs, Government Departments and schools to derive best practices for future intervention. The fundamental aim of the evaluation is to provide guidance to the implementing organisation and hope to inform the community by sharing the results of the evaluation. Conclusively, the best practices are turned into a series of recommendations for use by NGOs and donors effectively and efficiently.
