This case study (1) describes the development of wind generation to date in Egypt within the context of the development of the energy and electricity sectors; (2) analyzes the factors supporting and constraining investment—what these have been to date and how they might develop in the future; and (3) discusses the conditions that would be necessary for a large-scale implementation of wind power in the future. In addition, this case study examines the status of wind power in Egypt in March 2009 and analyzes important changes known to be either in the system or considered during that time.
