In the 1980s and 1990s, China had the world’s most successful national stoves program, but recent policies and programs have tended to be fragmented. This short paper describes an integrated strategy for building on the earlier efforts to accelerate household access to clean cooking and heating.is proposed. Key elements of the proposed strategy include strengthening institutional capacity and building an enabling environment, developing a thriving market and household demand, and adopting a results-based financing approach.
