This case study highlights Chile's Rural Electrification Program (PER), which expanded rural electrification through private sector companies and existing cooperatives. Factors contributing to success are discussed and include: reliable transmission infrastructure, experienced construction service providers, empowered government agencies, well-defined methodologies, and sustained political commitment.
