Member states at the 2012 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) agreed to launch a process to develop a set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of post-2015 processes. This report has a focus on framing water within the post-2015 development agenda. Links are made between water and development, experiences with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and expectations of the SDGs. A number of principles are established within the report which SDG proposals can be assessed against, whether water-focused or otherwise. Assessment is grouped into three clusters, and assessed against the established principles. A cross-cluster framework is provided for water post-2015. The report ends with suggestions for implementation pathways and innovations for moving forward.
