The government of Ecuador is addressing deforestation and pressure on forests by scheduling a REDD + high quality mechanism that maximizes the benefits to the climate, environment and people. This report presents the results of spatial analysis to support this planning process.

The report provides an updated map of biomass carbon stocks of Ecuador and present an analysis of the relationship between carbon and biodiversity, protected areas, indigenous peoples’ territories, poverty, human population density and other factors including potential pressures on carbon and biodiversity.
