This roadmap consists of two sections, a biomass resource appraisal describing the overall potential of Australia's biomass resources, followed by a section providing the objectives, issues, and actions that need to be implemented to overcome barriers impeding the development of biomass energy in Australia. The resource appraisal considers agricultural-related wastes, energy crops, landfill gas, sewage gas, sugarcane, urban biomass, and timber wastes, estimating that 4% of Australia's energy demand may be met by 2020. The roadmap develops a series of recommendations to both develop the overall biomass energy industry as well as more targeted recommendations to aid the growth of specific feedstocks.
