This third publication aims to make the link into communications disciplines traditionally associated with climate change and risk management. It Defines the concepts of risk, threat, vulnerability and adaptation, emphasizing its relationship to climate change.

The document is presenting information on threats and risks caused by climate change to ecosystems, resources and human populations. It also presents examples of evaluations developed in Colombia to determine the vulnerability on water resources, the vegetation cover of high mountain ecosystems and coastal areas.

The paper concludes that, readiness for climate change requires: coordinated actions among stakeholders to develop dissemination strategies about risk and adaptation to climate change, of the unification of technical concepts and the analysis of the relationship between impact and society by weather.
