Senegal’s Energy, Environment and Development (ENDA), in collaboration with the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), have jointly developed a toolkit for undertaking climate change vulnerability assessment and adaptation planning. This activity began in October 2011, was concluded in December 2012, and was undertaken in three major phases: the development of the toolkit using various participatory research tools, testing and refining the toolkit in a pilot test study in Gambia, and a stakeholders’ workshop. The toolkit covers the following areas of climate change adaptation practice: resource mapping; capacity and asset mapping; trend analysis and historical disturbance profile; current vulnerability mapping; climate change perceptions; participatory scenario-building and back-casting; adaptation screening; and local research: good practice. For each topic, the toolkit presents a brief description, as well as guidance on objectives, expected outcomes, resources, and activities.
