According to this report, forests, and the goods and services they provide, are essential for human well-being. An assessment of the likely impacts of climate change on forests and forest-dependent people is therefore important for effective climate change adaptation. Such an assessment also assists in the development of options for avoiding the harmful effects of climate change and in taking advantage of the opportunities provided by it. This report assesses: (a) the interrelations between forest ecosystems, services they provide and climate change; (b) the past and future impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems and the people who depend on these ecosystems; and (c) management and policy options for adaptation.
