This paper is a compilation of information on impacts of climate change on Caribbean fisheries and adaptation approaches to these impacts. It also incorporates discussions and recommendations from the “Consultation on Adaptation of Fisheries and Fishing Communities to the Impacts of Climate Change in the CARICOM Region”, held in Tobago in 2002. Impacts cited as detrimental in this study include the destruction of marine habitats by global warming such as coral bleaching. Adaptations proposed include the improvement of technologies used on fishing vessels. The take-home message of this report is that while climate change is slated to significantly impact regional fisheries industries, proper adaptation can mitigate the severity of the economic impact.
