The Climate Innovation Lab in Latin America was a fast paced three-day online event that brought together selected youth participants as well as climate technology experts within the selected sectors and technology fields in the region to explore innovative design thinking tools, flexing their entrepreneurial muscles and creating solutions for enhanced climate action. At the end of the Climate Innovation Labs, the selected participants were provided follow-on support to implement and scale selected solutions through a 6-8 week Climate Innovation Academy Programme delivered by the CTCN partner Seedstars.   • AgroTech

    Type:

    Elevator Pitch:

    AgroTech works on the efficiency in the process of fighting pests for families of farmers with their own consembradíos, institutions and/or foundations, making low-cost and nature-friendly electronic devices.

    The problem:

    The bad use of pesticides that cause the death of 200M per year and has caused eroded soil in more than 65 hectares.

    The solution:

    Electronic device friendly to nature and low cost, used to repel pests.

  • Todis

    Todis is solving the lack of access to quality water by providing a solar water disinfection system, to help people in remote areas to have access to basic needs, improving their quality of life.

    The problem:

    People in rural and urban areas in Latin America doesn’t have access to quality water.

    The solution:

    A system that cleans and disinfects water by solar energy.

  • Heat Island

    Elevator Pitch:

    HEAT ISLAND systematizes solutions and brings them closer to their clients, democratizing climate adaptation in the hands of everyone.

    The problem:

    There is great urgency in the face of climate change. There is little community participation in deciding the design of your community. There is a lack of specialized capacities to deal with local environmental problems. And the experts and the population wanting to contribute to the cause, have a great gap in between.

    Elevator Pitch:

    SAMI solves the inefficient management of organic solid waste for residents of peripheral areas by offering a collection service, collection, storage and recovery of organic waste.

    The problem:

    There is poor solid waste management in the poorest and most inaccessible sectors of the city. Causing garbage accumulated in the streets, infectious diseases, spaces without green areas, greenhouse gases.

  • Green Cycle

    Elevator Pitch:

    Green Cycle is a platform that connects companies that generate recyclable waste, with the compensation of their carbon footprint.

    The problem:

    In Latin America, companies generate 1 billion tons of waste per day. And for example, in Peru, only 5% of waste is recycled.

  • Kaphiy-Brown

    Type:

    Elevator Pitch:

    Kaphiy-Brown is generating organic waste in the production of coffee, to benefit people intolerant to gluten, making coffee husk flour.

    The problem:

    Worldwide, 41 million kilos of waste are generated annually from coffee production.

    The solution:

    We reduce contamination by residues from coffee production, with a gluten-free flour, benefiting people with celiac disease, gluten-sensitive and coffee growers.

  • Econecta

    Elevator Pitch:

    Econecta is tackling the issue of inadequate solid waste management for generators and recyclers, implementing a technological platform that connects the different actors involved.

    The problem:

    By 2050, waste generation will increase by 70%. And of these, only 4.5% of the waste is recycled.

    The solution:

    Connect waste generating companies with valorisers in an optimized way.

  • EcoDrop

    Elevator Pitch:

    EcoDrop provides farmers with the knowledge to optimize their water resources efficiently in crops.

    The problem:

    There is a lack of knowledge in irrigation that causes inefficiency in water management.

    The solution:

    Integrated Hardware and Software system for intelligent irrigation that allows sustainable production.
