Rutgers researchers have developed a method for separating carbon dioxide from a mixture of gases by way of passing said mixture through a porous polymeric coordination compound.

Benefits:

The compound is a three-dimensional network with one-dimensional channels made of Zn metal and two polyfunctional ligands with binding sites conducive to CO2 removal.
