Maturity
Using liquid gas can result in a 70 per cent reduction of climate impact compared to diesel. Biogas and natural gas have been used as vehicle fuel in Gothenburg for more than 15 years.
Sweden’s first public filling station for liquid gas opened here in 2010: today there are 14 in the area. Enough biogas is produced from sewage sludge to fuel 6,000 cars driving 15,000 kms annually. The development of gas-fuelled vehicles is in rapid progress. The city of Gothenburg owns 120 gas buses and Volvo Truck Corporation is starting the production of trucks that run on liquid methane and diesel.
