Esoko is an information and communication service for agricultural markets. It leverages the explosive growth of mobile phone services across the continent.
The company provides advice to farmers (market prices, weather forecasts and growing tips) to help them increase yields and profits as well as solutions to businesses (marketing products, monitoring activities, and sourcing goods) to help them connect with farmers. Esoko's solutions include mobile and web-based tools for data collection coupled with field deployment; an SMS/voice-based communication platform for farmer management and an electronic extension mobile and web app.
Problem addressed: Lack of knowledge and information about agriculture-related matter ( e.g. weather forecast, agronomic data, market prices).
Potential improvement: Through the support ok Esoko, smallholder farmers have access to information related to agriculture
