This invention uses previously known chemical compounds for a new purpose - controlling mosquitoes in their aquatic larval stage. Preliminary results indicate that the compounds are also active against the other aquatic forms of mosquito (i.e. the eggs and pupae).
Benefits
UC compounds are clear colorless safe for humans (already approved by FDA for human consumption) and readily biodegradable. They are also relatively cheap and given their positive characteristics might even be used in treatment of drinking water supplies.
