Li-Ion batteries are expensive due to manufacturing costs associated with electrode preparation. After electrodes are cast they must be dried in order to remove the solvent which could potentially cause environmental pollution if left on the electrodes. The drying process requires significant energy consumption and time. However a newly developed dry powder spray coating method will eliminate the need for the electrode drying process and reduce the time and cost associated with Li-Ion battery manufacturing by allowing the cathode material and binder to be deposited in a completely dry form.
