Everyone is talking about a smarter, more sustainable future. In Brunnshög, this future is being realized. And it is being created around the people who will live here, focusing on their future needs. In northeastern Lund, a new district – Brunnshög – is being built. The realization of the district’s vision creates an inspirational and global living environment, where up to 40,000 people live and work. It includes top-class facilities and laboratories along with a dense and mixed urban environment with varied housing and lush parks, shops and schools, workplaces and services.

WITH A STRONG SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR COMING GENERATIONS
The city of the future will make completely different demands on sustainability. Brunnshög has high ambitions: leading the way towards a more sustainable world. The city district is to set a European example, taking local responsibility for the global climate, with an inspirational living environment where people and ideas meet, and which is permeated by quality of life, joy and consideration for future generations.
And how does this affect the planning? Everything from large technical systems, such as tramways and district heating, to smaller initiatives, such as rain barrels and carpool memberships, will make Brunnshög a place that is characterized by sustainability and quality of life.

A WORLD-LEADING LIVING, INNOVATION AND RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT
Above words sum up the vision for Brunnshög. Three strategies are being used to attain it:
1. Developing the world’s most prominent research and innovation environment using MAX IV and ESS as drivers.
2. Making Brunnshög a knowledge-intensive and global living environment by constantly exploring new solutions for sustainable social development.
3. Creating an international destination for science, culture and recreation, which inspires discoveries and new knowledge.
This gives Brunnshög three strong cornerstones: knowledge intensity, sustainable urban development and regional attractiveness.

THE FIRST PHASE IS BEING BUILT
Brunnshög’s first phase, Southern Brunnshög, is being built. Approximately 1,000 people are living in the district and restaurants, a grocery store and other types of service has opened. In 2020, the district park Nobelparken opened and in the summer of 2022 the 30 football fields big Kunskapsparken is ready to invite visitors. The world´s largest low temperature district heating network, Sweden´s largest waste vacuum system and the tram from central Lund to Brunnshög is already in use.
