  • Umeå Wastewater Treatment Plant

    Within Umeå municipality there are a total of 19 wastewater treatment plants. The largest, Umeå Wastewater Treatment Plant, takes care of wastewater from households and various businesses in Umeå and surrounding villages. Every year, it receives about 13 million cubic meters of waste water, containing about 3000 tons of organic material and about 80 tonnes of phosphorus. The process of cleaning water demands a lot of energy, but the plant also produce biogas which gives 23 000 kWh per day. Clean water

  • Reverse osmosis membrane technology

    Membrane which permeates solvent (water) but does not permeate solute (salt). In desalination, pressure up to 10MPa is applied to seawater which enables water to pass through the revere osmosis membrane, while the salt is excluded.

    Currently, two types of material are used: bridged aromatic polyamides, and cellulose acetate. Membranes must withstand high pressure and also be resistant to fouling.

  • Iron Nutrient Particles to Seed Algae (Phytoplankton) Growth

    Background: Algae are responsible for converting carbon dioxide into oxygen. However more than 20% of the world\\\'s oceans lack algae growth. The essential nutrient that is lacking in the algae-deficient surface waters is iron. However this iron must be (i) on the surface so that the algae can convert carbon dioxide to oxygen via photosynthesis and (ii) biologically available so that algae can use it. Technology Description: This technology describes the composition of and the method of production for water-buoyant particles that contain bioavailable iron.

    A hydram (hydraulic ram pumps) is an automatic pumping device which utilises a small fall of water to lift a fraction of the supply flow to a much greater height.

  • (KOTEC10) System for organic waste reduction and energy recovery

    This technology has been identified by KOTEC(Korea Technology Finance Corporation) for WIPO GREEN's project in waste water treatment sector. Any request for contacting the technology provider will be facilitated by KOTEC. This technology has been developed to reduce the organic wastes and convert them to energy and targeted at the sludge as by-products in wastewater treatment.

  • Carbon-negative nanoparticle production

    Carbon Upcycling Technologies is at an early stage of developing a process that sequesters carbon from CO2 in the form of a modified graphene product. The process itself requires a concentrated CO2 stream(such as the waste gas from coal fired power generation facilities refineries and other processing plants)as well as another solid carbon feedstock such as graphite or coal. Active carbon sites are generated on the solid carbon feedstock by repeatedly breaking molecular bonds on the solid. The active carbon reacts with the gaseous CO2 molecule.

  • MSABP Multi-Stage Activated Biological Process Wastewater Treatment System

    MSABP is water purification technology based on a revolutionary biological treatment process in which a special biological carrier provides immobilization of microorganisms in a multi-stage aeration tank.   • Algae pilot

    This Algae pilot is the first of its kind in Sweden. The algae convert unwanted substances to utilities. The goal is that algae cultivation will reduce our emissions of carbon dioxide and purify waste water to minimize over-fertilization of our waters and at the same time produce an energy-rich algae mass that is raw material for biodiesel (algae with high fatty acid content), animal feed (protein-rich algae) etc.
