What will future, sustainable housing look like? HSB Living Lab is a research and demonstration arena, consisting of real homes for students and guest researchers. This exciting project innovates on site, enhancing the sustainability and quality of present and future homes and buildings. At HSB Living Lab, the private and public sectors and academia work together to create an innovation arena that integrates solutions for the real-estate industry. The arena promotes more efficient use of land and counteracts market failure.

The digestion facility for the production of biogas is one of the bigger in Sweden, treating about 85,000 tons of organic material every year. The facility receives manure, industrial organic waste from nearby food industries and pretreated organic household waste. The company is owned by the municipality of Kristianstad and it delivers biogas to the large utilities company E.ON and bio-fertilizer from production residues to the region's farmers.

Kvillebäcken is the first urban district in Gothenburg built to new, more stringent environmental requirements, with the aim of creating a residential district that makes a low-carbon lifestyle easy. The new urban district of Kvillebäcken was the first phase of the plan to link Backaplan closer to the inner city of Gothenburg. The goal has been to create a thriving, green and attractive district that makes it easy to live a low-carbon lifestyle.

Arena Oskarshamn consists of an ice rink, gym and office space, swimming pool, leisure pool, café facilities and an outdoor artificial frozen bandy rink that in summertime is the football field with artificial turf.

More Biogas Småland was formed in February 2011. The Company has 22 co-owners of which 18 are farmers in the near region of Kalmar.

More Biogas has a fermentation plant, the plant produce compressed vehicle fuel for local use. Raw material is manure from farmer´s farms and food waste from households in the neighboring municipalities.

Sweden’s first solar power plant for heat and electricity at Härnösand has been connected to the local district heating network. The plant has 20 solar collectors that generate heat for the district heating network and electricity for the electric power grid directly from the sun. The purchaser is the district energy company, Hemab, which can now offer their customers energy-friendly energy. A field with a 200 m 2 Absolicon X10 PVT system was installed next to the headquarters of the energy company. The installation is installed on the ground.

The municipality of Örnsköldsvik has a long given priority to sustainable and energy efficient building. The expertise regarding energy efficiency and alternative energy sources are great and we have benefited from the expertise available internally in the municipality and held by planners, designers and installers when new building erected. In Ornskoldsvik, we have recently built schools, nursing homes, swimming pools and office buildings. All along, the minimization of energy has been an important issue.
