    More Biogas Småland was formed in February 2011. The Company has 22 co-owners of which 18 are farmers in the near region of Kalmar.

    More Biogas has a fermentation plant, the plant produce compressed vehicle fuel for local use. Raw material is manure from farmer´s farms and food waste from households in the neighboring municipalities.

    Twenty solar collectors connected to Bävergläntan’s wood-chip fired furnace, which provides heat and electricity to both the property and other industrial businesses A few years ago, the oil was replaced by a woodchip fired furnace. Now the wood-fired heating is supplemented with solar energy, primarily during the summer when the furnace is expensive to keep running. The purchaser for the system is Bävergläntans Fastighets in Smedjebacken, in Dalarna province, in Sweden.

    CHP plant produces district heating for Kalmar city and suburbs as well as renewable electricity equivalent to 1/3 of Kalmar's electricity needs. The plant is fed with biomass from the forest in the form of wood chips, bark and residues from forestry and wood industries as well as a small amount of peat.     Wind power is an endless and renewable source of energy that has been used for thousands of years. It plays an important role in Umeå Energis investment in renewable energy and is in line with the company’s aim to be completely carbon neutral by 2018. In total, the municipality owned company Umeå Energi owns ten wind turbines, which provide significant climate benefits. These turbines are situated in the towns of Hörnefors, Holmsund and Robertsfors. Hörnefors wind power plant consists of eleven turbines with an output of 2 MW each from two different manufacturers, Vestas and Enercon.

    Within Umeå municipality there are a total of 19 wastewater treatment plants. The largest, Umeå Wastewater Treatment Plant, takes care of wastewater from households and various businesses in Umeå and surrounding villages. Every year, it receives about 13 million cubic meters of waste water, containing about 3000 tons of organic material and about 80 tonnes of phosphorus. The process of cleaning water demands a lot of energy, but the plant also produce biogas which gives 23 000 kWh per day. Clean water
