Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communications of Tonga expressed the appreciation to the CTCN assistance in the development of Tonga Energy Efficiency Master Plan. The response planning team will start the work shortly.
“The proposed assistance of the CTCN is of significant importance to the Government of Tonga and it will add value to the development of this proposed Energy Master Plan”, says Paula P. Ma’u, CEO for or the Ministry of Information and Communication.
Also, the CTCN hosted a Regional Forum for National Designated Entities for Small Island Developing States in the Pacific 24-26 February in Tonga, Nuku‘alofa. Participants discussed the Paris Outcome in relation to Technology Transfer and Technology Mechanism, linkages between CTCN technical assistance and financial mechanisms and institutions that are relevant to Climate Technologies, they shared experiences on the use of CTCN Technical Assistance and ideas for national and regional requests. The meeting was organised in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), and it was hosted by the Government of Tonga.
