The Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) is pleased to announce the 2024 Latin America and Caribbean NDE Forum, taking place in San José, Costa Rica on October 1-2, followed by the AI Capacity-building Programme from October 3-4.

The LAC NDE Forum and capacity building events are organized in response to the Parties' call for tailored service of the CTCN.  These events will be held in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Energy from Costa Rica (MINAE).

Celebrating a decade of CTCN

The LAC NDE Forum will mark the 10th anniversary of the CTCN. This milestone event will provide an opportunity to review the impact of the work to date, share good practice and lessons learned from the past decade. The Forum aims to enhance future collaboration with Nationally Determined Entities (NDEs) in alignment with regional, sub-regional, and national climate priorities.

Forum highlights

The Regional NDE Fora, organized annually by CTCN, bring together NDEs, CTCN Advisory Board members, Technology Executive Committee (TEC) members, CTCN Network Members to present case studies, and other stakeholders. The 2024 programme includes:

  • Ongoing Technology Mechanism work under the Joint Work Programme (2023-2027);

  • Reflections on the recent joint session of the TEC and CTCN Advisory Board;

  • Overview of technical assistance provided by the CTCN in the LAC region;

  • Insights into capacity-building, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement initiatives;

  • Discussions on past and potential technical assistance project ideas for system transformation in the LAC region;

  • Exploring opportunities for South-South or North-South collaborative Research, Development, and Deployment (RD&D) and investment, benefiting both national and global climate change actions;

  • AI Capacity Building: Mapping the role of AI in the climate action space, learning about AI technology and how it can be applied for a systems transformation, a prioritization of AI technologies which can best support NDE climate work, and explore the readiness of AI technology in the LAC region.

Agenda
