    Context

    Climate-monitoring networks in Azerbaijan are still insufficiently developed, comprehensive and reliable data is missing as well as there is a lack of harmonised methodologies for undertaking climate change related assessments, including Vulnerability Impact Assessment (VIA) studies. Comparison of vulnerabilities across different sectors or ecosystems is complicated because most climate change vulnerability and impact assessments use their own sets of indicators, often created without proper consultation or agreement with respective governmental authorities.

    Description of the project: Kynarou is developing an inclusive and sustainable development model with 10 Dalits (“untouchable” caste) communities in Tamil Nadou, India. Starting from the supply of drinking water and access to decent sanitation, this project runs an exemplary model of sustainable and inclusive development with the villagers, ranging from ecological treatment of wastewater to integrated solid waste management, including the creation of 120 organic vegetable gardens.

Technologies in this field use living materials often bacteria that are able to utilize pollutants for life processes and release non-hazardous metabolites. Some bacteria are able to perform this function using their endogenous genome and some have been genetically modified to fulfill this role.

  • Heavy Metal Extraction From Water Using Cavitation of Hydrogen Bubbles

    The technology presented within the invention disclosure builds on the inventors’ prior art creating a novel way to extract heavy metals from aqueous solutions (i.e. water) for at least two purposes: • cleaning substrates (e.g. semiconductor wafer chips) and • water treatment purposes. The technology uses the concept of electrochemical properties and sonolysis to achieve success at removing contaminants from either an electronic substrate or from water. This is done by applying a bias to a microelectrode while irradiating with ultrasound radiation.

    pH2O designs builds and operates a full scale combined unit for washing landfill disposal trucks after they dump the waste and before leaving the landfill which is a becoming a global environmental regulation. The unit purifies and recycles the washing water while eliminating odour with no added chemicals and with zero discharge. All products incorporate electrochemically based technology without the need to add chemicals for any of the process while achieving total control and maintenance of water pH.
