In late 2012 Hybricon started the production of its new electric buses, Hybricon Arctic Whisper (HAW). The first bus was a 12-meters bus and the other a four-wheel drive 18-meters articulated bus.

Clean public transport initiative

The Clean Vehicles Poject started in the mid 90’s, originally to acquire environmentally friendly cars for the municipality. This led to the development of an infrastructure for the supply of clean vehicles and bio fuels. Since then, a considerable number of cars have been bought, tested and evaluated and the supply of clean vehicles and bio fuels has increased successively.

Ethanol can be produced from most raw ingredients that contain sugar or starch, which can in turn be broken down to sugar. In the Norrköping factory wheat, rye and barley are used as raw ingredients. Around 550,000 tonnes of grain are required to produce 210,000 m3 of ethanol. With a yield of 5.5 tonnes per hectare for wheat/triticale in Central Sweden, the factory's capacity is equivalent to a plantation of 100,000 hectares.

Using liquid gas can result in a 70 per cent reduction of climate impact compared to diesel. Biogas and natural gas have been used as vehicle fuel in Gothenburg for more than 15 years.
