Solomon Islands Water Authority (SW), a state-owned enterprise, is mandated to operate as the provider of municipal water and wastewater services. About 95% of total installed capacity of electricity generation in Solomon Islands is based on fossil fuels, and the balance 5% is through renewable energy sources. The electricity tariff of Solomon Islands is one of the highest in the Pacific since a major share of electricity in the Islands is met through fossil fuels.

PacGeo - Pacific Spatial Data Infrastructure
Type:PublicationPublication date:Objective:Sectors:PacGeo is an open access geospatial data repository for the Pacific Region providing premier geophysical, geodetic, and marine spatial data sets. Developed through collaboration between the GeoScience Division of Secretariat of the Pacific Community (GSD/SPC), University of Sydney, Geoscience Australia (GA), and GRID-Arendal. The development of PacGeo was combined with targeted training and capacity building activities conducted at the Pacific Maritime Boundary Working Group Meetings, held twice yearly at the University of Sydney and at other ad hoc events in the region.
2015 Nutrition country profile: Solomon Islands

This tool is particularly useful for nutrition champions at the country-level, as it presents a wide range of evidence needed to assess country progress in improving nutrition and nutrition-related outcomes.
Climate change, food security, and socioeconomic livelihood in Pacific Islands
Type:PublicationPublication date:Climate change projections internationally accepted as being reliable indicate that most countries in the Pacific region will suffer large-scale negative impacts from climate change. These impacts are likely to include elevated air and sea-surface temperatures, increasingly unpredictable rainfall patterns, rising sea levels, and intensification of extreme weather events such as tropical cyclones and El Niño-related droughts.

On the understanding that a global agreement addresses international assistance to access financial and technical resources, Solomon Islands can with international assistance, contribute a further:27% reduction in GHG emissions by 2025 and45% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030, compared to a BaU projection. With appropriate international assistance, Solomon Islands can reduce its emissions by more than 50% by 2050.

Type:PublicationPublication date:Objective:Approach:This report focuses on the community as the central point of measuring vulnerability to climate change in Choiseul Province of the Solomon Islands. It discusses the factors that affect people’s resilience to the impacts of climate change at the community level. Given the close connectivity of livelihoods and natural resources in the region, ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) approaches are deemed an appropriate adaptation response in Choiseul Province. The report recommends a number of adaptation options addressing land, coastal, community and sea-based vulnerabilities.
